The Program

The first Swiss Geoscience Master Congress will take place at ETH Zurich one day before the Swiss Geoscience Meeting 2011. This new event is a platform for ideas and meeting as well as a showcase for prospective students looking for the right Master program in Earth Sciences at a Swiss university. Freshly graduated students from all around Switzerland will present their MSc-thesis. The wide scope of our discipline will be covered in four sessions, from stone building bacteria to planetary dynamics and from rockfall prevention to climate research.
Further MSc-theses will also be exposed as posters.
The audience The speakers
We know that the Master studies is a decisive step in the higher education curriculum. We therefore heartily invite Bachelor students to attend the congress. Here you will have the unique occasion to see the many different options offered to you in the Swiss academic landscape for your MSc studies. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to discuss with the speakers and other MSc students to learn more about the different programs proposed in the seven Swiss universities offering Earth Sciences MSc-degrees.

MSc students, PhD students and members of the faculty are indeed most welcome to attend as well. It will be the occasion to realize the quality and relevance of many MSc theses, to better know the variety of research and, of course, to meet fellow students

Master students from a Swiss university having either completed their thesis or with interesting preliminary results can apply to the congress. It is a great occasion to present your research and to practice your presentation skills in a friendly, although serious, environment.

We invite you to submit a poster alongside your talk. Do not forget to submit it to the SGM 2011 as well, you can then present it there. You can also submit only an abstract for a poster if you wish.
